Launching Ceremony of Xichang University’s Volunteers for 2017 Hope Primary School Basketball Season of Yao Foundation was held in the academic lecture hall of the Mathematics building in the south campus on 10 May.

    Leaders from the Communist Youth League of Liangshanzhou Party Committee and the Communist Youth League of Panzhihua Municipal Party Committee, and leaders of Xichang University and Communist Youth League, the head of the school of Sports Science, and 60 volunteers presented the ceremony. The meeting played a broadcast of Yao Ming's message to the volunteers in our school, in which Yao said that he wanted the volunteers to devote their love and actively participate in volunteer activities, to bring positive spirit of basketball to the children and enhance the children's physique, cultivate their self-confidence and self-improvement. He told the volunteers that it would be a unique experience, and he wished this event a complete success in the end.

   Our university recruited 60 excellent basketball teaching volunteers this year. After the training, they will go to carry out supporting education activities in 60 Hope Primary Schools and poor primary schools in counties like Huidong and Xide in Liangshanzhou and Renhe District in Panzhihua.
